Yes... summertime is definitely here. Teaching is a wonderful, yet stressfull profession but it makes the summer months so much sweeter. It seems like we dont get nearly enough family time in during the school year, but we definitely make up for it in the summertime. The picture above is my little one, in a kiddie pool, swimming with a fish she caught out of the creek by my parents house. I love summer and so does she. Memories like these don't fade.

I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like my classroom has evolved into something like this over the past two weeks! My kids have been sooooooo wild. Third graders usually calm down at the end of the school year, but this group has not! It is taking everything I have to keep things moving along. But... theres only a week left! So Im off to launder my zookeeper clothing and get ready for the mayhem to come!

So one of our reading stories is called "The Pinata Maker". It is a nonfiction text showing the process taken to create a pinata. In the story, it looks sooooo easy and not messy at all.. Well, the author in this one.. LIED!!!!!

We used balloons and flour/water paper mache to make our pinatas. I swear that stuff is still stuck to EVERYTHING in my room. So now, I vow to never...ever...again endure a project such as this.. I am not, by any means a crafty/artsy person and it definitely shows with this project... It was a horrible mess and we're not finished yet! Still have to paint, stuff, and break these bad boys.. Believe me, I will be quite glad to see them shattered to pieces!

Sitting at home on a Sunday night without air conditioning has my feathers a bit ruffled! Luckily it is getting dark here, so it better cool off in a hurry!

Im looking forward to the next few weeks. Im doing lots of special things in my classroom. Right now, we're making balloon pinatas, doing a 20 day Balloon Countdown to the end of the year, and fixing to start up some fun review activities in the classroom. Im going to try to keep this kids learning all the way up until the last minute! Not sure if I have the stamina though! :-)

Wow, Ive been busy this week! Hopefully, next week will be a little calmer..But probably not! Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys my
